Music Headphone Buying Guide - The Different Headphone Styles

Thinking about getting a pair of music headphones to listen to your music? How do you find best stereo headphones to fit your needs?

In today's marketplace there are a large number of headphone manufacturers and models to choose from. Headphones have become increasingly popular because music is everywhere we are; it's on our phones, MP3 players, and laptop computers. The newest generations of slimmed down headphones bring high resolution music or home stereo sounds directly to our ears no matter where we are.

There may or may not be one style that will fit all your needs. Whether you prefer snug fitting earbuds, or full size "cans" (stereo headphones) is a matter of personal preference, and there is nothing wrong with owning more than one pair of course. How you plan on using your headphones will also be a big determining factor in what models will work for you.

With this being said, the first step to choosing a pair of headphones is deciding what style or styles will work for you. See also best headphones under $50

Below is a breakdown of the different styles of stereo headphones:

Earbuds

You are most likely familiar with earbuds as the headphones that typically come free when you purchase an MP3 player, iPod, iPhone, iTouch, smart phone, etc. These tiny headphones seat inside the ear canal. Earbuds are very small, making them great to travel with, they provide moderate to good isolation from external noise, and are fairly low cost. However, they do not typically provide the highest quality audio reproduction, can be uncomfortable over long periods of use or for those who don't like things in their ear canal, and they also have tendency to fall out during running or other physical activities.

Sport Headphones or Clip On Headphones

You may remember this category of headphones as the yellow headphones that used to come with the yellow colored Sony Walkman. Nowadays some of these models have a plastic like hoop that goes over the top of the head, around the back of the neck, or clip onto the ear. These are the type I personally like to use when running, or lifting weights at the gym. They stay on your ears a little better than earbuds during activity, don't need to be put in your ear canal, don't overheat your ears, are portable & easy to travel with, and are fairly low cost.

Ear Pad Heaphones

The pads from these headphones sit on your ears as opposed to in your ears (like earbuds) or fully encase your ears like (full size circumaural headphones). They tend to be fairly comfortable, can provide high quality audio reproduction, don't overheat ears as much as fully sealed headphones, are typically moderately priced. However, they can become uncomfortable over long periods of use because they push down on the ears since they sit on them.

Fully Sealed Headphones

These headphones are also known as "cans", stereo headphones, ear cup headphones and even a few other names. Basically, they seal around the ear, so that it is fully enclosed, which helps to eliminate outside noise while producing a very high quality audio listening experience. These headphones provide the highest quality audio listening experience delivering full broad range of sounds, and eliminate outside noises. These headphones can overheat ears & be uncomfortable over long periods of time, they are typically not as portable as the first two styles above, and they can be quite expensive depending on the model.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

These headphones help eliminate noise by creating anti-noise. You may have seen people on the airplane using this type of headphone to help eliminate the whining noise of the jet engines, while also listening to music or perhaps not. These headphones help to reduce ambient noise, allow you to listen to your music at lower volumes, and can produce very high audio quality. Some users may be bothered by the pressure created to eliminate ambient noise (those with really sensitive ears), they can be bulky & heavy, use traditionally batteries for power, and can overheat ears.

Wireless Headphones

With advancements in technology these types of headphones are becoming increasingly popular in today's marketplace. They have no cords to keep you tethered or to get you tangled. These headphones usually cannot provide the audio quality of a wired headphone, they can be expensive, and also can be bulky & heavy.

The Benefits of Home Digital Surveillance Cameras

Consider the following hypothetical situation. You are a couple of working parents and you have a five-year-old son who is cared for by an au pair during the day when he is parentless at home. One day you notice that your son has some suspicious looking bruises on his arms or his legs. Of course, they may have simply been caused by rough-and-tumble play. And the au pair appears to be a decent type and can even give a reasonable explanation for the bruises. But you may end up wondering and worrying anyway, even if you have no rational basis for doing so. Wouldn't you like to find a way to save yourself from worrying and get back your peace of mind?

There is a very simple solution to this kind of parental dilemma. All you have to do is purchase a digital surveillance camera for your home. You can order it online or just drop by a nearby electronics store to get one. The cost to you will be from $200 to $400. Once you have the camera, you can secrete it in a hidden place where it can watch what goes on in your home while you are not there. Many homeowners disguise the camera using home décor or an innocent-seeming household item, sometimes even a toy. With the camera keeping video surveillance over your child, you can watch the recording to see if your child was just hurt playing or if your babysitter was the cause of his injuries. Even if, as you hope, the camera reveals no wrongdoing, you will be able to put all your worries to rest.

It is not only your children who may be in danger of receiving harmful care. Our elderly parents and relatives are similarly vulnerable. There have been many cases of elderly people in nursing homes who have been victims of neglect and abuse by the nursing staff. If you have an elderly loved one in a nursing home, you may want to ensure that he or she is being taken of properly. As with your child, you can buy a digital surveillance camera and hide it in your elderly relative's room to watch for any evidence of poor nursing or even direct harm.

This is a very controversial practice, it is true. Some people would deem it an invasion of privacy. However, no one can deny that the option to do surveillance exists, and in fact it can even be quite beneficial. There was this one case in the state of New York where the use of securitycameras in the elderly residents' rooms led to the arrest of 19 employees who had allegedly failed to provide even the most basic care for their patients.

Cheap Portable DVD Players

Cheap portable DVD players are portable DVD players that are at the lower end of the pricing scale. They are typically priced in the $100 to $200 range, with most being priced closer to the lower limit of the price range. With a few exceptions, most of the players in this segment of the portable DVD player market are not the big names in the industry. Low-priced models from Coby, Mustek, Astar, CyberHome, and Audiovox dominate the cheap portable DVD players' segment.

Portable DVD players are DVD players that enable you to watch movies whenever and wherever you like. They allow you to watch a movie "on the go." DVD players are devices that play digital video discs (DVDs), an optical disc storage media that stores data, including movies. Since these days DVDs are primarily used to store movies - given the large storage capacity that these discs possess - they have come to be synonymous with movie discs. The discs are normally twelve centimeters in diameter, although a few also come with an eight-centimeter diameter.

Even though they are priced lower, cheap portable DVD players have features that are comparable to the high-priced premium models. Most of them have a seven-inch or eight-inch liquid crystal display or LCD screen, which is attached to the player. There are also a few with a five-inch- or six-and-one-half-inch-wide screen. They are also light and compact. Most also play almost all of the media formats and support all the television systems. However, since one gets what one pays for, there are various other features of the premium models that cheap portable DVD players do not necessarily carry. But, for the price, cheap portable DVD players are a good option for the mobile traveler who is interested in getting the basic yet important aspects of a movie experience.

Stand-Alone DVRs Vs 4 Channel DVRs

Video Recording has come a long way. It was not too long ago that people recorded video on VHS. But now people are going digital with digital video recorders (DVR). The stand-alone DVR and the 4 channel DVR are two examples. Although both their features are similar, they differ in the way that they are used. Read on to more about these differences.

Size And Prize

Looking at how the two devices look will tell one from the other. Stand-alones resemble any upstanding media player which comes in one single box. You only have to connect the device to your television sets to use it. On the other hand, a 4 channel DVR is a more advanced video recording device because you have to use it with a personal computer along with other peripherals such as a mouse and a webcam for each separate channel. Because of its security features, DVRs that are used for surveillance tend to be more expensive than those used in home entertainment systems.

Functionality

The way these two digital video recorders are used make it unique from the other. You can use stand-alone devices to record television shows that you may have missed. You can program the device to record your favorite basketball game so that you can watch it once you are home after work. On the other hand, a 4 channel DVR is mainly used to beef-up home security systems because of added security features such as motion detection and video searching. It also supports the use of removable media such as hard disk drives and writable optical drives. Using the device results in clearer surveillance videos and improved video playback.

Ease of Use

Because of its security features, a 4 channel DVR may not be so easy to operate as compared to a stand-alone DVR. Anyone can set up the latter with just the aid of a user-manual. However, you may have to consult a professional when integrating your DVR into your home security system.

Storage Capacity and Features

The 4 channel DVR clearly has the upper hand in terms of the amount of data that can be saved. For sure, the device comes can store hours and hours of surveillance data more than any high-powered computer could. To take the security of public places such as shopping malls, schools, hospitals, and theaters up a level, these devices can accommodate up to 32 channels! The storage capacity of stand-alone DVRs, although large, fails in comparison with DVRs in security systems. Stand-alones may lack security features, but its recording and playback capabilities are up-to-par. The device will greatly change the way you watch TV at home.

You should consider these differences if you are thinking of getting yourself a digital video recording device. Do not confuse the two devices from each other because they have different uses and functions. The thing to remember is that a 4 channel DVR is used in security systems, while a stand-alone DVR is used for entertainment purposes only. Click here to see best 4 channel surveillance system

Hi-hat control pedal for traditional hi-hat feel Full-size, die-cast footboard for professional durability Works with virtually all e-percussion including DM10, DM6, DM5, Trigger|iO, ControlPad and PerformancePad Slim profile fits perfectly next to double-bass pedals Integrated spikes and velcro for holding position on carpet.

OK! I'll admit that I was very skeptical about this shallow subwoofer because of my experience with a Sony 10" shallow mount that could hardly outperform my door speaker bass. However, I have always been a long time fan of Kicker products, and every kicker speaker I've owned has always delivered what they promise and more. So, on that basis alone I was willing to give Kicker a chance; and, I'm happy to say that once again Kicker has delivered on that promise. These flat speakers pound so hard I tough that my dual 12" CVT vented box was in my truck. Seriously! These 10" speakers kick as hard as most quality 12" speakers. The bass is impressively clean and tight. In my 08 F150 there is no room under the seats for even a wedge shaped box, so I took a few hours one Saturday and custom built a box and put these bad boys in. I get a ear-to-ear grin on my face everytime I turn up the bass and watch the rear view mirror vibrate along with everything else in the truck.

There were'nt too many reviews for these subs. I went ahead and rolled the dice and man... I was grinning like a kid in a toy store. I got two hooked up in my 2010 Avalanche in a custom sub box between the seat amd midgate. The box is thin so I had to get some shallow mounts. I've had shallow mount subs before and based on my previous experience, shallow mounts are not too "bassy". I have a 1000 watt crunch amp and then since I didn't want to replace the stock stereo, I went with an output converter to clean up the highs. These subs are very impressive, very loud, very clean and they punch. My mirror shakes. You can hear these subs with the doors closed and windows rolled up. I am going to add hushmat or dynamat just behind the seat to quiet any outside vibration. But, if you are on the fence on the price, remember you get what you pay for. But with these, you get a little more... Great buy! See also 10 inch shallow subwoofer

Any owner would naturally want to preserve something as expensive as a camera while loving the outdoors, being one with nature, being on the go and at the same time being able to capture wonderful images in still photos.

Protection has never been easier with the different offers from Nikon. For instance, the soft case especially designed for a Nikon D7000 has a strap that allows convenient carrying of the camera while keeping it protected from dirt and scratches. Another perfect item is the classic looking leather bag made for Nikon D3100 SLR camera that is made of soft internal layer that protects the LCD screen from scrapes, nicks and bumps. Some cases come ready to use without having to take the camera out when you need to take a picture. Most Nikon camera bags and cases are functionally designed for convenient use. Some are designed with bottom screw so you can directly fix your camera on a tripod. Most cases are so user-friendly that they open and close easily as they provide shelter.

Why protect a camera using bags and cases? No one can argue that the beauty of nature's colors is magical especially during spring time when flowers bloom and the green color of the countryside is again witnessed. What better way to capture such views but with pictures that you can preserve forever. But wouldn't you want to do the same with your camera? Naturally, any photography hobbyist would want to keep their cameras for as long as they can. That is why there are qualities, well-designed cases and carriers that are functional at the same time. These are the features of Nikon camera bags and cases and they serve the purpose of shielding your cameras very well. There are many selections available from any local camera store or online. They are offered in different sizes and designs.

Consider the size of your camera, the number of accessories you carry with you often and possibly some extra room to carry other essentials when determining the size of bag you want to buy. If gathering them all together in one bundle and carrier might cause discomfort and uneasiness in carrying, consider getting a couple of bags instead of one big, bulky one. There are bags made with plenty of pockets: on the sides, the front, the back and even small ones inside. You may find these pockets very useful in keeping small items away from the camera itself to avoid them scratching the camera accidentally. There are also shoulder or backpack camera bags for hands-free carrying. Should you go for a shoulder bag, get one that has a very secure strap. Remember, expensive equipment is what you will be placing inside. You don't want the strap accidentally detaching and damaging your camera instead of giving it protection, do you? Nikon camera bags and cases are often offered at lower prices when you buy them along with the camera. So if it is your first time to shop for a camera, look for stores that offer package deals to include a bag and protective cases.
